This cozy mystery series features a quirky amateur sleuth with a penchant for solving murder by using her nursing instincts.

Reece Carson, nurse entrepreneur and amateur sleuth, never expected the extensive remodel of her parents’ clinic to reveal a hidden body, in this cozy mystery series. No, she expected to spend several blissful weeks playing auntie with her sister’s newborn, not solving a murder case. An hour after her nephew’s birth, a second corpse is discovered.

Investigators find a rabbit’s foot, a four-leaf clover in a shirt pocket, a broken silver chair with a horse pendant, and no weapon. When a wallet reveals the identification of the male victim, Reece realizes the two employees, who fell in love and ran away together eighteen years ago, are the victims. Their family members accuse Reece’s parents of erasing the violent background of a former employee, putting their loved ones in grave danger.

The Carson sisters are horrified, and move to clear their parents’ names. The DA has other ideas. He needs publicity to win the election and dubs the new investigation “the Lovebird murders.”

As Reece investigates both murders, she’s fighting a cloud of doubt involving her parents’ integrity, a teenage crime reporter’s meddling, and a son’s devotion to uncovering his mother’s killer. Her chief suspects are two prominent citizens. Before Reece can make a move, a new corpse is discovered in the Carson Clinic. No way, will this amateur sleuth allow the killer to get away with murder a third time.

Reece is convinced that at the heart of all three murders lies betrayal. She already knows that secrets can come back to kill, and that black-hearted lies create cold-hearted killers. In Body Magnet, book three of the Text-A-Nurse cozy mystery series, amateur sleuth Reece Carson learns betrayal is hard to forgive, and the pain lasts a lifetime.

Body Magnet Reece Carson RN A TextANurse Cozy Mystery Book 3 edition by R V Doon Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

This book is very well written, the characters are full of life and passion, the cold case mystery is fascinating--two runaway lovers found walled up in the clinic the heroine's parents ran--and there is plenty of funny, tense and interesting regular life scenes to balance the mystery.

So why am I only giving it three stars? Mainly it's to warn others to read the other books in this series first. Have you ever had the experience of having to fit into an already established, tight knit group? From the start I felt like an outsider who never really caught up as everyone dropped names andreminisced about things I knew nothing about. It made it hard to get a grip on the characters or really care about them because half the time I didn't know why they were reacting the way they were, or what they were referring to. It was more than a little off-putting, and despite how well written the book is, I had to force myself to keep going back to it whenever I put it down.

I know, I know, this is the case with most series to some extent. You always feel like there's more that you're not getting. But usually you lose that outsider feeling fairly quickly and get involved with the characters and story. Not with this book. I got more distanced from them the more I read. The author is too attached to what has gone before and brings it up constantly in an indirect, not straight forward manner so you're constantly guessing what she means and how it relates to the present. It's exhausting and takes away from the current story.

So, if you want to enjoy this book as it very well could be enjoyed, make sure you read the other books first. This is a stand alone novel in the sense that it has its own mystery to be solved, but it's best not read alone.

Body Magnet Reece Carson RN A TextANurse Cozy Mystery Book 3 edition by R V Doon Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Grips you right from the start and makes you want to read straight through. Loyalty to friends and family, love of friends and family, a murder mystery to solve with all their help. A bit of romance, family connection, and friends to help keep focus. This is the second book featuring Reece Carson and I enjoyed it greatly!
I give this 3.5 stars because it gave new dimension to the meaning of Body magnet. The heroine was very analytical in her thinking process and this made for a more descriptive read. I would like to see more especially more relationship aspect to fully develop this character and maybe a go to work with boyfriend day to see more of his character development as well.
All 3 of the books in this series are very enjoyable, but you should read them in the order they were written. I wish there was a 4th book in this series! Since there isn't, I'm going to read one of this authors other books.
Reece, a nurse, spends her days nursing and solving crimes. Her friends call her a body magnet. After two bodies are found in the walls of her mother and father’s clinic for kids, she starts investigating. One of their former clients has an issue with one of his parents running away back then and thinks it might be linked to the bodies. Reece gets the help of her friend who is a detective, Tom, but she has a special way of looking at the facts. The book has good characters and lots of twists and turns.
This. Could have been a really good read. Unfortunately I had not read the prior books. Characters and events that I can only presume were in previous books we're dropped into this book with no context. It seemed as if the author just assumed the reader knew who they were . For example who is Roc and why does he have bodyguards? I found this very distracting. Aside from this the writing was good as well as the plot.
Body Magnet is the 3rd book in the Text-A-Nurse series, and as with the first two, it is very enjoyable. What is refreshing for me is that the medical jargon is all correct, and her relationships with the continuing characters in the series grow and you get to know and like them even better. In this book, Reece's sister with whom she is very close has finally had her baby, Deacon, named after their father. Reece is supposed to be on 3 weeks "New Auntie" leave to spoil Deacon while Heather recovers. However, bodies begin to pop up at their parent's now-closed clinic, and as Reece and Heather own the building, Reece has to be there way too much for her liking. Not enough time with Deacon! The several new characters are very interesting and make the book pop. You won't want to put it down!
Out of the 3 books in this series, I liked this one the least. It was repetitive with Reece talking about her sister or her boyfriend..... how close she is to her sister and how wonderful her boyfriend is.... over and over again. We get it, but it was overkill. I enjoyed the characters in all 3 books. I just found myself wanting to just get through it, which I didn't feel in the other two. I didn't care for the many references of her catching a kidnapper yet that plot wasn't in the previous book or this one. One of the characters involvement was a surprise at the end. If there was another one in the series I don't think I'd read it based on this last one. I highly recommend the first two!
